Full Product Description
The Goldenrod 496-5 is the critical component of the “Water-Block” series, providing a dual-layer of protection that standard particulate filters cannot. While typical filters only stop solids, the 496-5 uses a chemical polymer media that reacts with water on contact. This is especially vital for modern diesel and biodiesel storage, where moisture can lead to microbial growth (“fuel algae”) and injector damage.
The element is designed for use in See-Thru bowl housings, allowing you to visually inspect the fuel condition. It comes packaged with a 470-7 nitrile rubber gasket to ensure a leak-proof seal during installation. It is rated for a maximum flow of 25 GPM (Gallons Per Minute), making it suitable for high-volume electric pumps as well as gravity-fed farm tanks.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Active Water Removal: Absorbs and traps free water, preventing it from reaching your engine’s combustion chamber.
-
Automatic Flow Restriction: Effectively “shuts down” the fuel flow when the filter is saturated with water, preventing accidental contamination.
-
17-Micron Filtration: Provides high-efficiency removal of rust, scale, grit, and lint.
-
Broad Fuel Compatibility: Safe for regular and unleaded gasoline, diesel, gasohol, fuel oils, and biodiesel blends up to B20.
-
Interchangeable Design: Fits into any standard Goldenrod 495 or 496 series bowl housing.
-
Made in the USA: Manufactured by the Dutton-Lainson Company to high industrial standards.
